Ripe Rice Marks Harvest Season on Quay Son River

The Quay Son River begins its journey in Ngoc Con commune, Vietnam. It flows through stunning mountains and forests, bringing fertile soil to the small delta on both sides. This boosts harvests in Trung Khanh District, Cao Bang, in Vietnam’s Northwest.

Every year in the middle of August, when the rice no longer grows towards the sun but bends downward because the weight of its grains, it’s the time the paddy fields turn their color from green to light yellow and finally dark yellow, quietly telling farmers that the harvest time comes.

The spectacular scene of the fields on Quay Son rivers has charmed countless of people and it’s how hundreds of stunning photos capturing the magic scene of the place appears.

When the rice is still green, the entire place look lovely with pleasant green shining in the sun, quiet and peaceful as a land of forgetting.

During harvest time, the fields turn dark yellow, resembling a fairyland. The bright yellow rice and sunshine make the fields and river sparkle like a giant diamond between the sky and earth. At the foot of the mountains, small roofs of the Tay ethnic group appear, like homes from fairy tales.
